URA (Urban Resilience Architecture) combines construction, food production, and sustainable development in an entirely new way. The project’s goal is to create a new generation of residential buildings that integrate living, food production, and employment opportunities. URA addresses some of today’s most pressing challenges — self-sufficiency, resilience, and the climate crisis — not just locally but on a global scale.
What makes URA especially significant is that it will establish a new innovation hub in Eastern Finland. The pilot will be built in Savonlinna, with impacts reaching across the region and opening new doors to international markets. URA also provides solutions to global challenges such as population growth, shrinking arable land, and the need for secure food systems under extreme conditions.
Soilence’s Role in the URA Project
Soilence brings to the project a sustainable and efficient growing medium designed to support vertical farming in urban environments. Vertical farming is a key innovation in integrating urban construction with food production — reducing dependence on arable land and weather conditions while minimizing agriculture’s water footprint.
Soilence is specifically designed for such solutions: an ecological, scalable, and reliable substrate that enables productive and sustainable cultivation even under demanding circumstances. We believe that the cities of the future won’t just consume — they will produce. They will produce food, wellbeing, and opportunities.
Expanding Our Horizons — AgroVenture and Kasvu Open
In addition to URA, Soilence has been selected to participate in AgroVenture, a new growth program focused on agri-food tech innovations. AgroVenture supports startups and growth companies that bring sustainable solutions to the future of agriculture and food production. Through this program, we will refine our business model and scale our solution for international markets with the support of top industry experts and mentors.
We are also thrilled to be taking part in Kasvu Open, Finland’s largest growth coaching program. Kasvu Open gives us access to valuable networks, sparring sessions, and growth opportunities, helping us sharpen our strategy and accelerate Soilence’s journey toward making a real global impact.
